This evil malicious entity in Jewish folklore is known as a Dybbuk.  The Dybbuk is based on a play based on the Jewish folklore called The Dybbuk by S. Ansky, who spent many years traveling in research documenting his findings on the beliefs of Hassidic Jews.

The film stars Lili Liliana has the bride to be, Leah.  Leon Liebgold has Hannon/Channon, and Abraham Morewski as Rabbi Azrael ben Hodos.  Historically the film is considered one of the best movies ever made in this genre.  The films wedding scene was shot in the unique German expressionism style and is considered one of the finest Yiddish movies ever made.
